Eilean a' Cheò Libre

In the shadow of the Cuillin, where the Atlantic mist hugs the jagged peaks, the independent Isle of Skye (Eilean a' Cheò) charts its own course. Our people speak the Skye-Pidgin—a rugged, soulful flow of Gaelic and English, shaped by the wind and the ancient stones. Failte to our island sovereignty!

"Madainn-Good, mo charaid! Ciamar are you doin' this braw day? Let's go to the cladach for a dram of uisge-beatha and some fresh bradan. The grian is shining through the ceò and the whole eilean is looking bonnie, nach eil?"
Translation: Good morning, my friend! How are you doing this fine day? Let's go to the shore for a dram of whisky and some fresh salmon. The sun is shining through the mist and the whole island is looking beautiful, isn't it?

Spirit of the Heather and the Sea

From the colorful houses of Portree to the fairy pools of Glenbrittle, the independent spirit of Skye is as old as the Cuillin itself. We live by the "Coir-Richt"—the right to our own land and our own voice. The day begins with a *halò* across the glen and ends with stories told by the peat fire.

"Oor vion is a sang of the peaks. We have nae borders here, just the fraoch and the sea-breeze. Listen to the pìob-mhòr in the street, the cridhe beats strong for the Saorsa of Skye. Tapadh leat, aye?"
Translation: Our life is a song of the peaks. We have no borders here, just the heather and the sea-breeze. Listen to the bagpipes in the street, the heart beats strong for the Freedom of Skye. Thank you, yes?

Independence of the Isles

Free Skye looks toward the horizon: sustainable crofting, world-class distilling, and a digital community that spans the glens. We are the bridge between the old legends and the new world.
